Isaiah 56:6 reads; “And the foreigners who join themselves to Adonai to serve him, to love the name of Adonai, and to be his workers, all who keep Shabbat and do not profane it, and hold fast to my covenant.

This is not a passive verse, but rather one of action. As those who are called from the nations to the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we have a responsibility to stand with the people of Israel. We could even call it an honor to do so. During this Hanukah season, let us honor the faithful who have stood for the Land and people of covenant by doing our part to help those in need.
I have personally witnessed the work of Yad Leah in Israel. The work being done is making a difference. Let me give an example.
In the winter of 2012 I took a duffle bag of clothing to Israel and gave it to a contact who worked with Yad Leah. A couple of days later she called me and said she had been walking to the store in her town when she looked and saw a little girl with a coat we had given. Make a difference? To this little girl we did. Just think. For those of us who love the Land and people of Israel, today we can only visit as tourists, but those clothes in our closet we do not need? They can live there and be a blessing.
